VMware tools and the vlm-1000 load balancers

Hi all,

We have 2 vlm-1000 load balancers on the vmware platform. All of our servers have the vmware tools installed on them. including 2 Linux based DNS servers.  was just in touch with Kemp customer support and they basically told me that i can't install the vmware tools on the vlm-1000 load balancers, and to install the tools on the Host that the vlm-1000 resides on. Does anyone here have the same scenario, and what/how did you install the vmtools for the load balancers for high availabilty? Has anyone installed the vmware tools on hosts before?

KEMP Loadmaster 2600

Hello, i wanna ask 2 question about KEMP Loadmaster 2600.

First : In KEMP Loadmaster 2600 they have 4 ethernet port, can we maximize all the port into on segmen
         Example : 172.16.1.10 /24

Second : Can KEMP check the module on server? if we have 2 server, server A is full module but in server B we missed one module while we import the module from server A.

ESP, return to logon form after credentials

Have ESP on a NIC in DMZ, the published Exchange is on a NIC on LAN.

When logon with AD credentials the form is just reloaded. If I use a wrong credential I will get the information on wrong credentials so the contact with LDAP seems to work.

Cannot get pass this. In the logs it looks fine.

Hi,

I have a requirement for the following redirects:


I have this working with a redirect rule for error code 302 and it maintains the string after the host name during the redirection, exactly what we want.

Now i have a requirement for the following additonal redirect:


I configured a replace header content rule matching on the host field and it works, but only if their is no string after the hostname, for example the following doesnt appear to hit the rule:

http://mywebsite/portal.aspx  - this still appears in the users browser, while we would like them to see http://ourwebsite/portal.aspx


Is this possible to do without breaking the first redirect rule we created?
Also it it possible in firmware 6.0-42 where we dont yet have the if logic available in the rules?

HA failover

What is the exact criteria to cause an HA failover? For example:

Is it an interface going down on the master, if so does it matter which interface, or whether the subnet on the interface has a VS?
Does a missed CARP heartbeat have to be seen on all interfaces configured for heartbeats to cause a failover? Do multiple interfaces configured for CARP act as witnesses?

Any clarification on what logic is used would be great, thanks.

Kindly help me for this question.
When I want to buy a LM-2600, I saw in quotation the price for LM-2600 device and price for a license activation (LIC-LM-2600).
This license for what? And can I use LM-2600 device without this license for the first year? 
And the warranty for LM-2600 is 01 year?

MYSQL Load balancing issue

Hi Support,

We recently implemented load balancing database servers via KEMP. We have configured database server with the LB virtual IP ie..  we have done one to one NAT between LB virtual IP 10.1.120 to real server IP 10.1.2.120 in LB . Configuration seems to be fine but unable to telnet the port 3306 via LB virtual IP to real server mysql port 3306. Please have look on telnet result below for better understand our problem.

fcoos@fcoos:~$ telnet 10.1.1.120 3306
Trying 10.1.1.120...
Connected to 10.1.1.120.
Escape character is '^]'.


We have allowed the remote network 10.X.X.X  for remote access to Mysql server also but still issue are still pertaining and unable to access the database via LB. Please can you give us any suggestions to resolve this issue asap. Looking forward for your reply.

www Redirect / naked Domain Redirect / @Record Redirect - How to with KEMP?

Main question:
How can I create a Redirect which adds a „www“- prefix to the original request?
E.g. The original request is mydomain.com and I want to redirect it to www.mydomain.com.

Background:
We have a Cloud Service in Microsoft Azure running and as you might know you never get permanent IP addresses. The problem which came up is to set an appropriate @Record / Record without “www” for the domain itself. In my example I need an A-Record to point to mydomain.com.
The idea was, to create a redirect rule on the KEMP Loadmaster which just adds a ‘www’. There is also a Cloud Service which does the same thing. Have a look at http://wwwizer.com/naked-domain-redirect.
The best solution would be if there is only one content rule which matches for all domains and only needs one public IP address.
Please share any ideas which occur to you.

"Cannot create VIP"

When adding Exchange services with the templates (2013) I get "Cannot create VIP".

Sometimes it is solved by rebooting the KEMPs sometimes not.

At a customer site yesterday I could create Exchange 2013 HTTPS but not Exchange 2013 HTTPS Offloaded?!??!

 

Anyone experienced the same?

I can't find any templates for exchange 2013.  We're looking to move from 2010 to 2013 within the next few weeks.  Will kemp be releasing a template for 2013?  If not, any advice on how to configure the VLM to support 2013?

Exchange Server Offline

Hi

 

Just installed a LM-2200 using all the templates for Exchange 2010 and all is working fine except for a couple of random users. Occasionally I will get a user who tries to open Outlook (was previously working the day before) and gets Exchange Server offline and cannot open mailbox. All the Outlook settings are same and nothing has been changed. Once I go into the network adapter settings and change the ip address they connect fine.

 

Not sure why it happens and it is totally random users. One day Bob gets it. The next day Lisa gets it. Once changed they seem to work fine thereafter.

 

Just looking for a place to start my troubleshooting. Any help would be appreciated

Interface for HA checks went down

Hi, i've go a question for you,in HA-mode, what if one of the interface (the one that linked these 2 KEMP appliance) went down? Is there any way to get notification from the systems? because we have tried it in our VM (we used VLM-100), it didn't gave us a warning or something like that when we disconnect that interface. so we never know if our configuration system (for HA-mode) is not working
we are using 1-arm configuration

'
and it keeps repeated over and over again, i'm using 2 consoles for HA and both of them shows the same warning, can you explain to me what is wrong with my consoles ? (i can't even log in on my consoles, but everything is fine when it comes to WUI)

"Real Server not on available network" Error

Hello

Here in my company we are trying to create a new LB for a SharePoint 2013 Farm with 2 Web Front Ends, but whenever we try to add a Real Server we get this error:

The IP addresses are all on the same subnet, that's why i cannot see a valid reason to get this error.

Do you guys have any idea on how to "fix" this error?

Transparency does not work

I have several real servers with http (80) and https(443) that I need to load balance. I also need to get the remoteip of the client. servers work if I acceess them directly (without load balancer)

I tried creating one VS with 80 and extra port 443 as well as separate VS for each port. If it is in non-transparent mode they all work fine but they are showing the Load balancer IP for the source so this is not an option.

Following the instructions for transparent implementation I changed the default GW of the real servers to the Load balancer IP ( i have a one arm configuration) and I tried in transparent mode both L4 and L7 but none of them works. SSL certificate is on the Real Servers. I have 5.1-44 firmware on LB2000.

Please advise if I am missing something.

Hello everybody,

i have a Problem
The Kemp LM 2200 in a HA Cluster works fine. I have the exchange Services and an RDP Service for the Exchange Server. (CAS Array)
The Problem is when i want to open the Exchange Management Console from an other network. It does not work.
Will i open the Exchange Management Console from the Network where the Kemps are also in it works.
So what can i do.

RDS Farm Load Balancing

Hi,
I've RDS farm in MSNLB and i wanted to use LM-100. i'm currently testing the unit and the kemp is already in touch with me.I've successfully configured the virtual IP on LM-100 and i have created a DNS entry for this. This VIP is pointing to the RDS Farm name : rdf.abc.com
I'm using RD Connection Broker , and i want to add farm name as my remote app source on Session Broker Server. Evrytime i try it couldn't find the servername , as this is only a DNS record pointing to VIP on KEMP service. How can add my farm name instead of every RDSH hostname under remote app source in session broker? please help
